Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my love of bourbon in food, drink, and travel. Hope you have a neat day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day: raise a glass to St. Paddy with Bourbon

Happy St. Patrick's Day: raise a glass to St. Paddy with Bourbon

You don’t have to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Irish Whiskey. Here are two cocktails made with bourbon that you can enjoy compliments of gobourbon.

The first is the Basil Hayden’s Spiced Honey Ginger. Here are the ingredients you’ll need:

  • 1 1/2 parts Basil Hayden’s Bourbon

  • 1/2 part ginger liqueur

  • 3/4 part lemon juice

  • 1/2 part honey simple syrup

  • 3-4 dashes of Bittercube Jamaican #2 Bitters

  • 1 lemon wheel for garnish

  • 1 rosemary spring for garnish

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and double strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a lemon wheel and sprig of rosemary.

The second is the Knob Creek Lion’s Tail. Here are the ingredients you’ll need:

  • 2 parts Knob Creek Bourbon

  • 1/2 part fresh lime juice

  • 1/2 part allspice dram liqueur

  • 1 part Angostura Bitters

  • 1 part simple syrup

Combine all ingredients in a shaker and stir. Pour into a chilled glass. Garnish with a lime twist.

My favorite of these two is the Knob Creek Lion’s Tail. If you don’t like the flavor of lime in your bourbon, these drinks aren’t for you. But there are a couple bourbon cocktails you can serve on St. Patrick’s Day proving that Irish Whiskey isn’t the only way to celebrate. Enjoy!
