Nulu Toasted Small Batch at Clark + Bourbon in St. Louis
If you’re a bourbon lover visiting St. Louis, you’ll want to check out Clark & Bourbon. My wife and I recently spent a couple days in The Lou. One of our first stops was the Clark & Bourbon restaurant located in the Live by Loews Hotel across the street from Busch Stadium. It was the night before opening day for the Cardinals and it was the perfect spot if you like baseball and bourbon.
One thing to note about Clark & Bourbon - there’s no bourbon menu. That’s because they have all of their bourbon bottles on display in The Whiskey Room. Located in the back of the restaurant, the private aging room is where you’ll see 480 bottles of whiskey including an impressive wall of a wide range of bourbons.
There are some rare finds and even a few local favorites. One wouldn’t expect to find such a room with so many bottles of bourbon outside my native Kentucky. But you will in St. Louis at Clark & Bourbon.
You simply go into the room to look for the bottle of your choice and then tell the bartender your selection. The bartender then goes into the room to retrieve your bottle and pours it for you.
I chose a neat pour of the Nulu Toasted Small Batch by Prohibition Spirts. It was my first time tasting that bottle. I enjoyed the taste of vanilla that’s followed by a little bit of caramel and cherry. You’ll also note lots of oak spice and nutmeg on the palate before ending with some cinnamon. I will definitely add this bottle to my personal collection.
