Great steaks and nice pours in StL: Hamilton's Urban Steakhouse & Bourbon Bar
Looking for a good steak while visiting St. Louis? I’d highly recommend Hamilton’s Urban Steakhouse & Bourbon Bar. My wife and I recently enjoyed dinner there prior to a concert. The food was amazing and there are some nice bourbons to enjoy with the meal.
You’ll find a large selection of dry-aged steaks, seafood, and an incredible array of bourbons. I was told Hamilton’s is one of the best bourbon bars in St. Louis, and I wasn’t disappointed.
We started with the bourbon BBQ glazed pork belly for an appetizer. The pork was very moist and the sauce had a sweet flavor that didn’t overwhelm.
I had the Kansas City Strip (which is the original New York Strip). I topped it off with the bourbon peppercorn sauce. Wow! The flavor was outstanding, especially with the sauce. My wife enjoyed the filet. She said it didn’t disappoint. Both steaks were prepared with Hamilton’s dry rub that definitely made both stand out with some bold flavor.
The bourbon selection was very nice. I started with the Weller Special Reserve 12 year. You could taste the rich vanilla, sweet caramel and robust oak in the pour. You can’t miss the strong oakiness in this Weller bottle. I especially enjoyed the finish as the gentleness ramps with some heat to cap off the sip. I’d highly recommend.
The drink menus has plently of bourbon cocktails as well. I enjoyed the Whiskey Blues - Hamilton’s version of the Old Fashioned. It’s Elijah Craig Small Batch with demerara sugar, cherry bitters and orange rim. Old Fashioned is my favorite bourbon cocktail, and the Whiskey Blues hit the spot.
So when in St. Louis don’t forget to enjoy a fine steak along with your favorite bourbon at Hamilton’s Urban Steakhouse & Bourbon Bar.
